Longines Istituto Idrografico R.Marina Heritage Chrono
Here's a very cool Longines Istituto Idrografico R.Marina Heritage Watch. The sport legends line from Longines pays tribute to the pionneers of sport and exploration whose exploits have been timed and meassured by the company. In 2008 Longines decided to revive the wrist chronograph originally developed in 1938 for the mapmakers/cartographers of the Italian Navy Hydrographic Institute for their regular surveys of the coastline and the sea-bed. At the same time, celebrating the 70th anniversary of this timepiece/original model. Probably only 2-3 examples were originally made of which one resides in the Longines museum and which is arguably the most beautiful of all 13ZN's... A total of 2000 Heritage models were made.
The 40mm diameter stainless steel case has a back with a cover stamped with the prestigious name of the "Istituto Idrographica della Regia Marina" for whitch the original model was made to order. The inside of the cover is engraved "EFCo", referring to the founder compagny. Movement is an automatic L651.3 37 jewels 28.800 alternations/hour with 42 hours power reserve. Case: 40mm stainless steel with hesalite glass. Stunning black with arabic numerals with superluminova. Water resistant to 30m. Original virtually unused brown alligator with steel Longines buckle. To me this is the best Heritage model Longines made sofar!
